Round 16: U19’s Old Brighton v St.Bernards
Old Brighton 11 9 75 defeated St Bernards 8 11 59
Round 16 saw the u/19s play St. Bernard’s in benign conditions at the Beach Road Oval last Saturday morning. The stakes were high as we were sitting in 4th position and the Snowdogs nipping at our heels in 5th spot. St. Bernard’s had certainly come to play and at half time they held a slender 4 point lead.
The third quarter saw our lads really dig in with Tom Howard quelling the influence of the Bernard’s playmaker and winning his own ball and our captain, Lachie Caldwell dominating across half back.
The last quarter began with the home team holding a 15 point lead and the tug of war battle in the last quarter ended with the Tonners triumphing by 16 points by the final siren. It was a great victory.
Our last 2 games have seen us come from behind after half time and the team have developed great self belief and confidence. These experiences should hold us in good stead when we meet undefeated Old Xavs this Saturday.
