Round 13: OBGFC Seniors v Old Xavierians

The team made another 3 changes this week, welcoming back Hamish Dick, Sam Collins and Josh LeGrice and were eagerly awaiting the clash with Old Xavs.

We got off to a flying start kicking the first goal of the goal from Andy Doyle but from there on it was a day to forget, conceding 4 easy goals of the 6 kicked against us, wasn’t what we had planned for. The second quarter wasn’t any better as we gave up the first 4 goals of the quarter and were only able to kick 1 ourselves to trail by 6 goals at half time. The half time break couldn’t have come quick enough and we scored the first goal of Q3 but then gave up 2 easy goals only to fight back hard with greater urgency and effort to kick 4 goals to be in with a real chance at ¾ time. However 2 poor umpiring decisions and a dribble oppo goal from 45m, the life was sucked out of the Tonners fight back in Q4 and with the opposition going at 77% accuracy in front of goal the game was well beyond any chance of a comeback finally going down by 52pts.

The team will regroup this week to take on Old Trinity in a battle to stay in the hunt for a finals place against a team fighting to avoid relegation.
