Rd 7 Report: OBGFC Fourths v Chadstone
Final Score: Chadstone 7.14 56 v Old Brighton 9.16 70
Best players: J.Curtis, N.Adams, H.Rowell, C.Chantzos, H.Butler, A.Adams
For our round 7 game, we ventured out to Jordan Reserve to take on the number 3 side in the competition. Following a tough week of selection, with injuries and other commitments, our back was against the wall as we faced off against a formidable opponent. Chadstone failed to capitalise on our lacklustre performance and headed into half-time 18-points up.
What followed can only be described as the miracle on grass, as we kicked 7 goals to 1 in the second half. Nick Adams played the game of his life, leaving spectators wondering whether the 4ths had called in Anthony Zimmerman to steady the ship. His efforts were matched by his older brother, Alex Adams, down the other end of the field. Alex has taken his game to another level in recent weeks and has firmly cemented himself as the Steven May of the competition.
In the middle of the ground, Hudson Rowell battled all day ensuring our midfield received first service at the stoppages. Such service was cherished by James Curtis, who after making the controversial switch from Haileybury, has thrived in our midfield.
Overall, the whole side fought very bravely and delivered a gutsy performance to run away the winners.
