VALE DAVID “CHARLIE” SEDGWICK

The Old Brighton Grammarians Football Club is saddened by the passing of a true Club Legend, David “Charlie” Sedgwick.

David was a founding member of our football club, being part of the first senior team to play in the 1957 season. David played a pivotal role in the Old Brighton backline, consistently named at full back where he used his strong marking skills and kicking over an excellent 207 game career.

A fine and reliable player, David was Old Brighton’s first ever 200 game life member. His best year came in 1959 when he earned runner-up in the club Best & Fairest.

David’s contributions to the football club extended far beyond the field. He was on the Social Committee as a player, and continued to be involved in the club as one of its keenest supporters right up to 2024. David was a regular at home games and enjoyed many lunches with his former team mates and great friends upstairs at Brighton Beach Oval.

Most importantly, David was a proper gentleman, much loved and respected by his friends, family and all who met him through Old Brighton.

Old Brighton extends is condolences and thoughts to all of David’s family and friends.

Service details will be provided when confirmed.
