President’s Report - Round 1, 2021

Once again the club faithful put their hands up to get the club up to a standard that belies its 50 plus years of activity.

Marsh and Sally Hill kicked the day off in the first qtr to go hard at the cleaning of stainless steel which put up a hard fight but the skill of Sally and the brute strength of Marsh saw us take the lead in the first Qtr.

Frankie Cav who was helping out at the other end of the ground was toiling in ensuring that the rooms were cleaned ready for the women’s side after he had a practice match two days previously in fixing leaking toilets and water pipe ably assisted by Peter grant.

A wet weather player Frank was best on ground.

On-baller Anthony Zimmerman was busy running the opposition up the wrong way and in assisting in cleaning up the loose ball by doing the changerooms walls from a messy situation.

The second half saw Leslie and Yvonne come off the bench to ensure that their stats were high and the team left nothing to chance for the following week by counting and cleaning utensils and putting final touches to the hard work of onballers Sally, Marsh and Frank.

During the cleaning up of the opposition

all players were kept hydrated by our new Bar man and ex senior player Harry “big H” Cannon.

Our clubbies team after putting in a creditable performance against Xavs were very supportive during the clean up game with continuous chanting of the OBGFC club song.

I would like to thank the above for their efforts, as without their enthusiasm and the coaching of Rosie, we would be just another club.

Their energy inspired our under 19s to just go down by a few points whilst playing with 17 men. Our reserves with a nail biting 1 point win, our women’s side playing outstandingly preventing the opposition to score and the cherry on top of the pie, our Senior side who gave a cocky Uni Blues side a lesson on mateship.

Forever improving.
