The day started off slow for the boys and set the tone all day for the Under 23 lads. It all started off doom and gloom for the lads with 4 boys calling in sick before the first bounce.

The first quarter showed how unprepared for the game we actually were when St Bernard’s put on the first 3 goals of the game in quick succession, until the old bowling ball came storming onto the pitch to take his first hit out in over 3 months. Assistant coach Zac Pirrie was lubed up and looking the goods for the two minutes he was on until the morning Croquet Monsieur came fast approaching from down below.

Being held together by the McPherson twins down back the boys starting to find some touch in the second and held Bernard to a small lead leading into the start of the 3rd.

The third quarter didn’t go to plan for the team or Mack Burgoine who is now out for the season being stretchered off the field. Bernard’s put on quick goals and our lads just couldn’t keep up. With no players on the bench from the start of the second half we were completely out of gas with little left.

Eventually going down by 10 goals our boys were done and dusted and sweatier than a one-armed brick layer in Baghdad, ready to dive into some green demons to enjoy a hard fought loss. Without the flying Dutchmen what are we?
