Forced to come from behind after a scoreless third term, the Tonner Reserves enjoyed their sixth win of the season, advancing into fifth place, their highest ranking of the season.

The boys played strongly in the first half, sparked by Charlie Hick’s return and with their forward line ignited by two goals from Nick Freeman, an appearance from Jack Rutter and the continued lively form of Ben Hitchcock, Fraser Gregson and Levi Otto.  Elliot Harris and Matt Speirs also had plenty of the ball as the boys ran to a 23-point lead at the break.

Then, unaccountably, we seemed to lose interest.  No-one went near the ball in the contests in the centre of the ground and we stood back and watched as Trinity slammed on six unanswered goals to take the lead.  A slight breeze that had sprung up, favoured them in the third term but couldn’t account for our lethargy.

Fortunately, our boys woke up and were first for the ball during a final quarter in which we were eventually able to wrest back the lead and hold on for a narrow win.
