The Women’s team returned to the winners list on Saturday with a strong 48-point win against Hawthorn. This was an important win as we have had very little football over the past 3 weeks given the bye weekend and the lighting failures in the previous twilight games, so the team was keen to put in a good effort. With the wind blowing directly across the ground, neither team had the advantage of kicking to a scoring end and it was the Tonners who produced some early system and teamwork and jumped to a 15-point lead at the first break. We were able to extend the lead to 30 points at half time and we maintained the ascendency for the remainder of the match.

The win sees us return to 2nd place on the ladder and with 2 important games remaining, we are keen to finish off the home and away season with a strong performance in both games. This week we play away and face last seasons’ premiers, Old Haileybury in a crucial match for both teams.
