Saturday saw the boys come against a fully loaded Old Camberwell team who had named a number of ones and reserve players to help them get their second win of the season. To their disappointment the under 23s had other ideas for them not allowing them to get close to us for that win they desperately wanted.
Again, we came undone by going into the game with big heads expecting a win to come easy, which it didn’t. The weather turned on a show and the wind came over the rail way line with a fierce bite to it. Keeping the muddy, wet Sherrin on the outer wing for majority of the game.
The first half saw a tight battle before the boys came home strongly in the last two quarters to get our third win of the season, and two wins on the trot.
With a few new faces, including Sam Alabakis from St Kilda and Mathew Wang who had never played before the boys were excited to eventually prevail and sing the song in the rooms at the end of the day.
We play Fitzroy next Saturday at Brighton Beach oval who are one spot under us on the ladder, if we win out third game in a row, we will sit one game out of the finals with only a number of games to go and players coming back from injury. The last two weeks we have had over 10 of our starting 22 not playing so the boys have pushed hard to get those wins under our belt. Not sitting far from the top four now, will it be a fairy tale finish to the year and sit us in the finals ????
