Asleep for the first fifteen minutes of the match, the Reserves fumbled and frittered and surrendered four goals to opponents who looked as though they would win in a canter. Harrison Vulcan’s goal looked only a token gesture as Collegians added two more, but when Levi Otto dashed in for our second, we were still breathing.
From the start of the second term, we dominated the game and looked the better side, booting 6.8 to 2.6 for the remainder of the match. Do the maths, and we fall one point short.
But that’s not the real story. In an eerie precursor to the Senior’s second quarter in which we gifted Collegians a couple of goals, a Reserve Tonner deemed it appropriate to finish the second term by shoving a Collegian forward over after he had marked well out from goal. Not any longer. Taken to the square, he of course goaled.
We lost by a point. I’ll leave it at that.
