The Women’s team hosted the previously undefeated and second placed Beaumaris team in a twilight game on Saturday. We knew that this was going to be a tough match and the first 10 minutes was an arm wrestle with both teams striving to gain an edge into their respective forward lines. Some great defensive pressure combined with 5 scoring shots on goal while keeping our opponents to one goal saw us go to the long break with a 14-point lead. Beaumaris came out in the 3rd quarter with plenty of effort and we also stepped up our intensity and we were able to hold Beauy scoreless while scoring a major into the wind. The pressure didn’t drop off in the last quarter with both teams showing great endeavour. But it was the Tonners who ran away with an 18-point victory maintaining 3rd place on the ladder in preparation for another massive clash against last season’s premiers, Old Haileybury at home in another twilight game next Saturday.
