The boys finally got it done on the weekend! A win over a very undermanned Old Camberwell. If we were not trying to play football in the car park then it would have been an absolute belting.
The boys were asked to not turn up late and also make sure our 10 minutes were the hardest 10 minutes of football we have played all year, and we did the exact opposite to that asked. We let Camberwell in for the first three quarters before finally realising that we actually needed to win this game of footy to stay alive in the season.
Finally playing a decent quarter of football our lads turned it on in the last quarter really showing Camberwell actually how much better we were than them. The backline was held together by Funston, Cochran and Riddell, keeping Camberwell to a scoreless last quarter, which in turn allowed our lads to enjoy a well-deserved win.
James Stewart who wasn’t meant to play kicked 5 for the day and enjoyed a day out in the forward line. What was an extremely ugly first 3 quarters of football the boys knuckled down and ran out a game to run over the top of Camberwell easily in the end.
With Fitzroy coming up the u/23 Thirds will be looking for their second win of the season in consecutive weeks, and proving to the other clubs that we are here to compete and win games of football.
