On a beautiful day down at the hallowed turf at Brighton Beach oval the Under 23’s were looking to notch their first win of the season. With half the team arriving late it looked like it was going to be a long day down at the beach. After a short introduction from the new faces in the team the boys were ready to crack on. The first three quarters were spot on and the fellas rallied hard all day, only to be out ran in the final quarter, starting the fourth quarter down by 11 points losing by 10 goals showed we just couldn’t match their fitness. Starting with 5 on the bench and finishing with none was a big factor in the last quarter which clearly showed on the scoreboard. Burns was huge all day picking up disposal after disposal, Fungston and Carlson down back helped steady the boys down there and young Nick Adams moved forward and slotted 4 goals. For the boys to only go down by 10 goals was a massive effort and each player should be happy with how they played. To lose to a team by 10 goals who had been playing together for 3 years and won last week by 180 points is a huge effort! We still don’t even know everyone’s name in the team. Enjoy the break this week and be ready for some big weeks coming up.
