Round 12 Reserves Match Report

OLD BRIGHTON:        1.4.10

MENTONE TIGERS:   11.17.83

Both Old Brighton Grammarians Seniors and Reserves sides endured another tough day, losing the points this time, to St.Bedes-Mentone Tigers who had no difficulty sweeping aside the beleaguered ranks of the home sides’ diminished numbers.

Though several former players appeared to help the Roscoes field a side, they were able only to lift the competitiveness of our team.  They could not offer a realistic hope of winning.

The Seniors stayed in the match in the first half, with determined efforts offered by all players, but the absence through injury of both co-captains, Dylan Verney and Harry Hill, compounded the continuing loss of a dozen players who have preferred to take mid-season holidays overseas.

Fortuitously, the other results in William Buck Premier fell our way, and the Tonners maintain a place in the four and a three-game buffer against those outside it.  The Footy takes another week off next Saturday to allow the travellers time to enjoy the foreign sun, while we await a resumption against Old Melburnians at the new-look Elsternwick Park on July 14th.

Goals: Yeoman

Best: Graham, Rutter, Sargent, Johnson, Yeoman, Graham-Bowman
