Round 10 Reserves Match Report

OLD BRIGHTON:   5.8.38

UNI BLUES:            9.15.69

ROSCOES BRAVE AGAIN

As the Roscoes prepared for the consequences of an unprecedented airport virus contamination, they played at times, as though some of them suspected they might never play again!  Moving to an early lead after Cal MacLeod, Sam Murray and George Yeoman kicked excellent goals in the side’s best opening for the year, an unlikely upset suddenly loomed.  Cal MacLeod began an excellent game, George played in front and attacked like a snarling hound, while Sam Murray, Marty Ho and the Kelpie were all up and about.

It was snuffed out when the Students answered with five of their own in the second term.  However, the Roscoes were always in the game, trailing by only 9 points at the final break after George converted two fine moves in the third term.  Matt Freeman kicked the ball back into play with a long torpedo down the guts.  George pounced on it like he might on a pile of dirty laundry, and drove it long to the cleaners.  When Lachie Bell ran a bouncing ball to the brink and sent it to George in the square, the Roscoes really looked good.  It was only in the final minutes that the Blues finally moved away.  Roscoe will be sending out a call to the faithful during the week and there will be some interesting appearances at Scotch College for Round 11.
